Pha Tad Ke Botanical Garden
Pha Tad Ke (PTK) is the first botanical garden in Laos. The mission of PTK is to stimulate a fundamental change of awareness that leads towards a holistic view of nature and society for ecological sustainability and the conservation of biodiversity. This regional biodiversity research and education center is the first living collection of plants in the Laos region, which include: ethnobotany collections and in/ex-situ conservation collections of Fagaceae and Dipterocarpaceae. They are looking to expand their conservation collections to include Annonaceae, Lauraceae and Myrtaceae. The center is supported by the collaboration and exchange of information with botanical institutions of South East Asia, the United States and Europe. The botanical garden provides jobs to local villagers and a nurturing platform for young talent to develop new skills in plant science and education.
