Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Arboretum

Description

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Arboretum is a showcase of the native beauty found in Tennessee thanks to the dedication of the Department of Energy's efforts to sustain its natural ecosystem. Only native tree species, such as the state tree the Tulip Poplar, comprise the official arboretum listed trees. While the list only highlights a portion of the numerous species found in the Oak Ridge Reservation (some 32,000-acres of forest), it encapsulated the importance of protecting native species against invasive species. All employees and vistors that are badged are free to walk amongst the tree to gaze at these efforts. There may be special events in the future to allow the general public to visit the arboretum as well.
