Mars Hill University Arboretum
The Mars Hill University Arboretum is located in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina. Mars Hill, a quaint college town near Asheville, sits at an elevation of 2,330 feet providing majestic views of the surrounding mountains. The entire 178-acre MHU campus is part of the arboretum, which includes manicured public spaces, tracts of native forest, and a carefully groomed diversity of planted species. The arboretum has an impressively diverse population of woody species, including both Appalachian natives and non-native landscaping favorites. Our 0.75 mile MHU Tree Trail travels through central campus, providing easy access to more than 50 trees especially suitable for educational and outreach activities. Additional trees are located throughout the MHU campus.
