Located in the center of the metropolitan Memphis area, MoSH-Lichterman has a unique role in helping urban residents – many of whom are landless or whose school grounds are paved - develop a love and respect for the natural world.  The arboretum of 73 species of labeled, exclusively native trees serves as a starting point for visitors to better understand trees in their own landscapes, and the ecological importance of the native trees that shape our region.    Assuring the community’s ability to enjoy and learn more about the plants and animals of the Mid-south is essential to our organizational mission and vision.
