Francisco Javier Clavijero Botanic Garden

Description

The arboretum of the Clavijero Botanic Garden, it is a collection of native and introduced trees and shrubs. Native tree and shrubs species are typical of the Tropical Mountain Cloud Forest. These species are also used for research (e.g., germination protocols, early establishment of endangered tree species, and restoration of the Cloud Forest Sanctuary). Among the trees in the collection, a majestic beech (Platanus mexicana) stands out, which is a very common species in the Xalapa region. Other species are used as a food source, such as the flowers of the gasparito (Erythrina americana) and the macadamia nut (Macadamia tetraphyla), other species are used as ornamentals such as the African tulip (Spathodea campanulata).
