Arlington National Cemetery Memorial Arboretum
Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 400,000 active duty service members, veterans and their families. On average, 27 to 30 funerals occur each day. More than 3,000 ceremonies and memorial services take place at the cemetery each year, including national observances for Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day held at the Memorial Amphitheater. Annually, over 3 million people from around the world visit the cemetery to pay their respects. The grounds of the cemetery honor those who have served our nation by providing a sense of beauty and peace and serve as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of every individual laid to rest on these Hallowed Grounds. The cemetery's 624 acres are a unique blend of formal and informal landscapes, dotted with more than 8,600 trees comprised of over 300 species, cultivar or variety. The collections include trees that pre-date the establishment of the cemetery, estimated to be between 200 and 250 years old, a collection of Memorial Trees as well as several majestic specimens.
